A sustainable fashion

Our commitments ...

Fifty years. The Garella Group is celebrating half a century of fashion in 2020. Years spent at your side, evolving our collections to bring you renewed fashion, always chic and comfortable. And what about tomorrow? Our challenge for the next 50 years, as an important player in an industry that we know pollutes, is to contribute to offering you fashion that is ever more responsible and respectful of the environment.

Our commitment is not recent. Indeed, it has been one of the major bases of our adventure since the 1990s. We'll tell you all about it.

70% of our products today are made from a material that the most loyal customers know well: technical jersey, our flagship material made in Italy. Appreciated by all for its comfort, ease of care and durability, it is a knitted jersey that cannot be tarnished, is very stretchy and extremely soft.

But did you know that, beyond the fabric, a whole eco-responsible approach has been set up over the years with our Italian supplier?

  • WATER. 30 million is the volume of liters of cooling water that are reused in the fabric production process, representing an annual energy saving of more than 200 ETO (tons of oil equivalent).
  • ENERGY. Our fabric manufacturer saves 900,000 kWh of energy every year, which is about 8% of the plant's annual consumption. How? By using clean energy from renewable sources, efficient machinery and a photovoltaic system that produces 18,000 kWh per year.
  • REDUCING CARBON EMISSIONS. Carbon dioxide emissions are one of the main causes of global warming. Thanks to energy efficiency measures, our manufacturer has reduced its methane consumption by approximately 350,000 m3 per year, which corresponds to 700 tons of CO2.
  • REDUCING WASTE. With a more successful approach to recycling processing and production waste, optimising the dyeing and printing processes and managing packaging, the company has achieved impressive results: an annual saving of 4,000 metres of cellophane and 9,000 cardboard packaging tubes.

As you know, for so many years now, our desire has always been to offer you quality, durable and timeless clothing. In spite of the dazzling development of fast-fashion brands, we have maintained this course in order to offer you a more responsible consumption: at INDIES it is quality rather than quantity that is the most important!

As a creative brand from the South of France, we have always attached great importance to maintaining production in Europe (Poland, Bulgaria...) & the Mediterranean basin (Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Tunisia). This is why 98% of our collection is today manufactured in these areas of expertise.

At INDIES, for 50 years we have been perpetuating a real know-how in terms of textile manufacturing, as there is not much left in France. The garments are first imagined by our style team, then prototyped by our pattern makers and seamstresses in our workshop near Aix en Provence before being launched in production at our European and Mediterranean partners. Today we employ nearly 40 people in our local area and we are proud of it!
